Dance Appreciation: Theory Paper

This exam lasts 1 hour and 30 mins.

Through this, you will have to critically appreciate your own work, as well as the six professional works in the GCSE Dance Anthology.

You need to know...

Appreciation of own work:

- Performance terminology (see performance home page) and definitions in relation to your duet/trio

- How the audience understood the choreographic intent (mood, meaning, idea, theme, style)

- Choreographic terminology (see choreography home page) and definitions in relation to the choreography you have created

- How the audience understood your choreographic intent (mood, meaning, idea, theme, style)

Within Her Eyes by James Cousins

To appreciate in depth you must be able to:

-  Find similarities and differences between characteristics in these works

- Explain how the choreography, performance and production enhance the audiences understanding of the work

- Discuss the relationship between choreography, performance and production and how this demonstrates the choreographic intention

- The purpose of using different performance environments
